Step into the Rainbow: Walkergate Celebrates Durham Pride
Durham Pride weekend returned bigger and better than ever in 2022 with over 25,000 people attending. In support of Pride Month and Durham Pride Walkergate installed a celebratory new rainbow design to kick off the festivities.
The ‘Rainbow Steps’ were installed ready for the Pride Celebrations on May 28th and 29th in Durham city centre. Visitors to Walkergate enjoyed a fantastic weekend with photo opportunities with the perfect rainbow background on the Walkergate steps.
Walkergate’s Slug & Lettuce bar and restaurant, hosted the official Durham Pride afterparty, where they served speciality cocktails with an LGBTQ+ theme.
This year’s Pride weekend celebrated with a unique ‘Platinum Jubilee’ theme to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. The Queen of Durham, Tess Tickle, accompanied by the gorgeous princesses of drag, led the Walkergate sponsored Parade, celebrating this unique occasion and hosting the Pride stage alongside celebrity Duncan James.
