Ahead of Euro 2024 in Germany, England’s Bukayo Saka has teamed up with Nando’s to launch his own sauce to strike diners’ taste buds – including at Walkergate, Durham.
‘Peri-Peri Saka’, is made up from the Arsenal star’s favourite flavours and sees smoky BBQ and tomato alongside the restaurant’s trademark Peri-Peri sauce for added kick.
Saka, 22, already has more than 30 caps for the Three Lions, getting on the scoresheet 11 times. He has linked up with an Arsenal chef to recreate the on pitch chemistry which sees the Emirates outfit sitting atop the Premier League, in the kitchen.
Saka said:
“My family’s really important to me so I wanted to make sure they liked it, too. As soon as my Dad said he was a fan, I knew it was the one.”
“I love it and can’t wait for everyone to try it. I’ve been going to Nando’s since I was little so to have my own PERi-PERi sauce in every restaurant in the country is quite mad!”
The sauce packs a fiery kick, with a medium-level heat and garlic and smoked paprika flavours making for a potent strikeforce. It is available in all Nando’s restaurants across the UK for a limited time, including in Durham’s own Walkergate Nando’s.
