Following the success of Lumiere, Durham Riverside has gained a permanent legacy fixture to remember the incredible event by!
On the 16th of November, the UK’s light art biennial returned to Durham for 4 nights with over 40 remarkable installations. To commemorate Lumiere’s return, a former artwork was installed a stone’s throw away from Walkergate, which was Lampounette by French company TILT. First featured at Lumiere in 2021, the oversized office feature has found a home in between Pennyferry Bridge and Freemans Place for art lovers to visit whenever they wish!
Lampounette pays homage to the iconic office desk lamp but on a much larger scale, turning a once dark area of Durham into a cosy and inviting living room.
Next time you visit Walkergate, be sure to visit Lampounette and capture some shots for social media – don’t forget to tag us on Facebook and Instagram! We can’t wait to see the special moments that will be captured in the months to come!
