Bearpark & Esh Colliery Band warm-up at Nando’s!

You usually come to Nando’s for the peri-peri spice and unlimited fro-yo… but wouldn’t you know it’s also a pretty good warm-up space for a brass band!

Before hundreds of musicians descended on Durham city centre for the qualifying heats of the National Brass Band Championship, competitors Bearpark & Esh Colliery Band sought a suitable rehearsal space to prepare for their big show, and Nando’s Durham answered!

Following their recent refurbishment, the popular Portuguese chicken restaurant had just unveiled a free-to-book private hire space perfect for work lunches, birthday parties, and student societies… but we don’t think they had an impromptu tuning session for a colliery band on their radar.

Nevertheless, the team at Nando’s Walkergate were all too happy to open shop early and adapt the space to house the group for an hour until the competition really heated up, just a stone’s throw away at the Gala Theatre.
