Fire & Ice 2025 took over the city for two days of dazzling elemental displays based around this year’s theme: music! Visitors to Durham enjoyed hunting through the streets to find the ten sculptures dotted across the city.
Walkergate was proud to host three of the bespoke ice sculptures. The crowds struck a pose alongside the Disco Dancer, a symbol of the vibrant energy of the 1970s disco era where glittering dance floors and funky moves reigned supreme.

Before wireless speakers and streaming services, the Jukebox brought people together to enjoy their favourite songs across the diners and dance halls of the 20th century. And in 2025, folks gathered around our ice sculpture version to appreciate this nostalgic symbol of music and good times.

Meanwhile at the Charm Block, it was hard work to chip away at the ice to uncover a little souvenir of the day – but it was worth it in the end!

A few lucky souls dug out the best prizes of all – a £50 voucher to dine at our own Rio’s Brazilian Steakhouse or ASK Italian! A meal at one of Walkergate’s top venues was the perfect way to end a day taking in the city-wide sculpture trail, live demonstrations and interactive ice carving workshops, if you ask us.
Walkergate would like to thank all of the visitors for making Fire & Ice 2025 one of the best years yet. We hope to see you again very soon!
